Team Leader Job Brief:

As team Leader, it will be your job to direct, inspire, motivate and lead your team towards achieving the goals and objectives of the company or organization you are hired to work for. During the Team Leader interview, we recommend you match the requirements of the job description, and in particular these skills will include: being able to conduct staff appraisals in order to identify each member’s strengths and weaknesses, communicating the company goals and objectives and setting timelines for achieving them, motivating and inspiring your team each day whilst at work, utilizing and maintaining resources so the team can do their job proficiently, providing staff training to develop skills and competencies, creating and maintaining personnel records of people within your team, liaising with the Human Resources department when dealing with staff, salaries and employment contracts and meeting with company senior managers and directors to provide updates on team performance.

Team Leader Assessable Key Skills, Qualities & Attributes:

  • MOTIVATIONAL SKILLS – As Team Leader, you will be required to inspire and motivate the staff within your team and also identify training needs as appropriate.
  • CONDUCT APPRAISALS – Part of your role will be planning and carrying out staff appraisals on an annual basis with a view to monitoring and assessing staff performance.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS – You will need to demonstrate effective communication skills as a Team Leader, both with members of your team, interview company managers and directors and also external clients/stakeholders.
  • WORKING UNDER PRESSURE – As a Team Leader you will need to be able to work under pressure and resolve difficult problems as and when they arise. It will be your responsibility to lead the team through difficult times and find solutions to working through tough projects or issues.
  • WORKING COLLABORATIVELY – Team Leaders need to be able to work collaboratively with external companies, stakeholders and suppliers in order to meet the goals and targets of the company they work for.
  • LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS – Team Leaders need a fine balance of leadership and management skills to drive the team forward in line with organizational targets and goals.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL ABILITIES – Assistant managers need to be capable of demonstrating effective organizational abilities and strong planning capabilities, foreseeing potential future problems, retainment of staff and also dealing with customer complaints and problems.
