Supervisor Job Description


Supervisor Job Brief:

The Supervisor role requires you to establish goals and tasks for all members of staff, including performance standards and deadlines. You will also be required to put systems in place that members of your team can follow when working towards the goals of the organization.

Supervisors have the responsibility of achieving the vision and mission laid out by the company they are working for, and they will achieve these through the delegation of key tasks within their team. They are also required to organize and monitor workflow, assess work performance and standards, and also monitor employee productivity against key set targets determined during employee appraisals.

Supervisors will often identify key training needs of the staff they are responsible for and provide relevant tuition and guidance where appropriate to allow members of their team to excel in their role.

Supervisor Assessable Key Skills, Qualities & Attributes:

  • An ability to work under pressure, resolve difficult situations and make decisions in the best interests of the organization;
  • Identify staff training needs and arrange for coaching and tuition on a periodic basis;
  • Identify their own training needs and keep on top of Personal and Continuous Professional Development;
  • Report directly to senior company managers and Directors and provide updates on performance;
  • Arrange and attend company meetings as and when required and disseminate key meeting outcomes and objectives;
  • Work to strict timescales and deadlines to ensure all work is carried out to the required standard as laid out by the organization;
  • Conduct bi-annual appraisals of all staff and work on their strengths and also developing their weak areas;
  • Set targets for members of staff within the team and monitor progress, providing support along the way.

TIP #3 – Although being a Supervisor is not a senior or strategic position with a company, it is still a position that is extremely important and influential in the performance of a company.
