TIP #1 – Prior to attending the Sainsbury interview for any job or role, make sure you read up on their values. The 5 values are Health, Sourcing, Community, Environment and Colleagues. Have a brief understanding of what they mean, and you will then feel more confident when answering questions about the Sainsbury’s brand and what it stands for.

TIP #2 – The Sainsbury’s value of Colleagues encompasses a requirement for staff and employees to provide exceptional customer service. Before you go to the interview, have examples of where you have provided great customer service. If you are applying for a customer-facing role, or where you will be dealing with customers, also have an example of where you have dealt with a customer complaint.

TIP #3 – Whenever you enter a Sainsbury’s supermarket or Sainsbury’s Local, you can instantly ‘feel’ and recognise their brand. All staff are required to wear a presentable uniform and they also act as positive role models for the organisation. During your interview, be sure to show that you too are capable of being a positive role model. Make sure you dress formally for the interview, think about interview technique and how you will impress the panel by what you say and how you act.

TIP #4 – There is a high possibility you will be asked situational interview questions at your Sainsbury’s interview. Prior to attending the interview, be sure to have specific examples of the assessable qualities. These will most probably include an ability to deliver great customer service, work as part of a team, resolve customer complaints, work hard under pressure and also demonstrate a flexible approach to work.
