Here’s the FULL LIST of interview questions for the NHS INTERVIEW:

Q1. Tell me about yourself and why you think you would excel working in the NHS?

SUGGESTED ANSWER:

“In the build-up to my interview with you today, I have been studying the job description, the competencies required to perform the role, and also the values and ethics of the NHS. Over the years, I have built up lots of experience that I feel would be advantageous in this role. I am someone who is patient-focused, meaning I will always tailor my work to their needs. I am someone who can follow rules, procedures and operational practices at all times, and will never put myself, patients or other staff in danger. I am loyal, flexible and can be relied upon to maintain confidentiality. I am also someone who can work under pressure and will always remain calm whilst doing so, and finally, I am also someone who can deliver on each of the core values the NHS expects from its staff.”

Q2. Describe a time when you provided treatment or care which was focused on one of the NHS values?

SUGGESTED ANSWER

“I understand the NHS has many values. These include, working together for patients, respect and dignity, commitment to quality of care, compassion, improving lives and also everyone counts. In a previous role, I consistently met each of the values, but the ‘working together for patients’ value was one that I particularly enjoyed and have lots of experience in. For example, I along with other members of my team were looking after an elderly gentleman who had dementia. Unfortunately, he had no family support and within the team we decided to work together, along with other external stakeholders, to provide him with outstanding care, support and treatment. We held a meeting to create a plan of treatment for him, and to also discuss the support plan we would put in place. By working together collectively, we were able to make the latter stages of his life as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I understand that, it is only possible to provide the best possible treatment and care by implementing the NHS values in everything you do and I believe strongly I have the skills and attributes to do that.”
