Consultant Job Description


The job of a Consultant is to provide companies and organizations with advice and strategic direction in respect of commercial growth and profitability. A Consultant will seek opportunities, identify strengths, help to improve upon weaknesses, and also advise the senior management team in regard to how difficult challenges can be overcome and projects completed.

Consultant Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out research to assess the performance of a company and identify areas for improvement and growth;
  • Analyse company data and information to identify opportunities from within the industry or sector;
  • Advise senior management team on the opportunities for growth by creating and delivering relevant presentations;
  • Identify training needs within the organization and facilitate in the delivery of the training;
  • Ensure their own knowledge of the industry from which they are operating within is up-to-date and current;
  • Arrange and run workshops for employees to help them understand the strategic direction the company is heading;
  • Undertake business SWOT analyses to identify organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and advise company directors accordingly;
  • Prepare company reports to provide evidence of progress against the strategic goals and business plan;
  • Attend departmental and organizational-wide meetings as and when required;
  • Achieve targets that are set by senior managers, Directors and shareholders.
  • Clarifies the strategic direction of the organization and advises company owners on how to achieve their commercial and financial goals.

4 IMPORTANT TIPS FOR PASSING A CONSULTANT JOB INTERVIEW

TIP #1 – Consultants have a pivotal role to play in the future success of a company. Therefore, during the interview, you will be assessed against the skills and experience you have that will enable you to help the organization grow and develop.
