Yes! I Want To Pass My Interview!Assistant Managers have the responsibility of supporting their manager in his or her duty to meet company goals, targets and priorities. They must ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times and they will be required to deputize for their manager as and when required. They will need to resolve any customer or client issues, solve difficult problems and ensure staff are hired and trained appropriately so they can perform their jobs to the best of their abilities.
TIP #1 β During your Assistant Manager interview, be sure to provide evidence of where you meet the key qualities and attributes of leadership, being able to plan and prioritize, conduct appraisals of staff and also support your manager in his or her goals and targets.
TIP #2 β You will be asked questions during the Assistant Manager interview that are based on the assessable competencies of management, leadership, communication and being able to work under pressure. Make sure you have specific examples for all of these scenarios.
TIP #3 β When responding to the behavioural interview questions, we strongly advise you use the S.T.A.R. method for structuring each answer. At the end of the STAR technique, we also advise adding an additional R (for reflection) as this is one of the key requirements for the role of Assistant Manager. You should have the ability to reflect upon your own and your teamβs performance with a view to developing and improving.
TIP #4 β You will be required to show your capability of supporting your manager in his or her duties and undoubtedly the main manager will form part of the interview panel. In addition to answering each of the interview questions fully, it is our advice to ensure you connect with the manager as you will need to work closely alongside them at all times.
