British Army Officer Job Description 

Army Officer Job Brief:

As part of the Army Officer selection process, you will be required to undertake a series of assessments and tests, including the Army Officer Selection Board (AOSB). During the AOSB, you will be required to undertake an intense interview which assess your potential to become an Army Officer based on the key skills, qualities and attributes applicable to the role.

The Army Officer job description requires you to lead and work alongside the men and women of the British Army whilst carrying out specific tasks and duties that are in line with the Army’s mission, values and goals. You will carry out peace keeping operations and also be fully prepared to enter combat at a moment’s notice as and when required. As an Army officer you will need to demonstrate the following key qualities, skills and attributes, all of which will be assessed during the Army Officer selection process and interviews (Careers Office and Army Officer Selection Board AOSB).

Army Officer Assessable Key Skills, Qualities & Attributes:

• Able to lead, manage and competently plan for all tasks and projects as and when required.
• Motivate and develop the men and women under your command.
• Prioritise tasks accordingly in line with the British Army’s mission.
• Conduct appraisals of all staff under your control and be able to identify those under your command who possess potential for development.
• Act as a positive role model for the Army by demonstrating the British Army values at all times.
• Conduct thorough planning exercises which will enable you to complete your tasks with diligence and professionalism.
• Work as a part of a team with other officers and soldiers serving with the Army.
• Work alongside, as and when required, with other members and stakeholders of the British Armed Forces, including the RAF and Royal Navy.
• Demonstrate confidence, resilience and adaptability when dealing with a multitude of situations and operations.
• Maintain suitable levels of fitness to be able to perform your duties to the required level.
