Account Manager Job Description and Key Responsibilities/Duties


Account Managers are responsible for managing key and important accounts of company customers and clients. It is a role that requires a unique set of interpersonal and relationship-building skills and you will need to be entirely customer-focused at all times whilst undertaking your duties. To be effective as an Account Manager, you will need to show exceptional communication skills, be a strong problem solver, be adaptable and able to respond to pressurized and stressful situations, and also be capable of using your initiative to solve the problem and issues presented by your customers and clients.

  • Act as the main point of contact for key organizational customers and clients;
  • Assess the needs of your customers and clients and provide solutions to their problems;
  • Work alongside internal organizational departments to fulfil the objectives of your role;
  • Collect, analyse and use data and information to respond to the needs of your customers and clients;
  • Establish and maintain your own professional knowledge of company products and services;
  • Maintain and keep accurate records and information logs pertaining to your customers and client’s status;
  • Respond in a timely manner to complaints as and when they arise;
  • Keep in regular contact with clients and customers to ensure their specific needs are met.
