SECOND INTERVIEW TIP #1

Do not make the mistake of thinking a second interview is just a formality. Ordinarily, an employer will use it as a chance to further determine whether you are the ideal candidate. Whilst they are most definitely interested in hiring you for the job, your performance at the second interview will be crucial to your success. You may also notice a different/additional person at the 2^nd interview, and this is for the main interviewer to get a second opinion. Therefore, it is important you prepare fully as you did for the first interview.

SECOND INTERVIEW TIP #2

Before you attend the second interview, think again about the reasons why you want the job, and what has specifically attracted you to their company. Tell the interviewer that you have further researched their company and the role in-between the first and second interviews and that you one hundred percent want to work for their company.

SECOND INTERVIEW TIP #3

A great way to prepare for a second interview is to write down what you plan to do in the first 30 days of starting work in the role. A common second interview question is: what do you plan to do in the first 30 days of starting work here? This question often catches candidates out and they end up cobbling together an answer whilst trying to think of their feet. This often shows a lack of preparation and organization skills. If you have a 30 plan already prepared, it tells the interviewer you are serious about making a positive impact in the role if they hire you.

SECOND INTERVIEW TIP #4

At the end of your second interview, you will most definitely have the chance to ask some questions of your own. Three great questions to consider asking are:

1. What advice would you give to the successful candidate who wants to excel in the role?
2. What’s the culture like within the company?
3. What are the plans for the organization over the next 5 to 10 years?
